.more about husband and me.

.being from a small town.

.pics of the neighborhood and house i grew up in
via my iphone in december 2010.

.growing up i couldn't
get out of laurinburg fast enough.

.in fact i played a huge role in
convincing my parents
to make the move to the beach
and
my move to nyc
just so i could get out of
that 'awfully boring' city.

.laurinburg has one movie theater
that plays two movies.

.laurinburg has one skating rink,
one bowling alley,
and no shopping whatsoever.

.laurinburg could not take
me to the next level with dance.

.it was the worst.
.or so i thought at
the time.

.until recently if someone
asked me
'where are you from?'
my response was
'near pinehurst'
just to avoid saying
laurinburg.

.small towns have the
worst reputation of
everyone being in everyone
elses business.
.and laurinburg is no
exception to this.

.that combined
with its boringness
is what i hated most.

.but then something
like what happened this
past week happens
and
suddenly being from
a small town doesn't feel
so horrible anymore.

.it's true everyone
does know everyone.

.and an old sweet family friend
passed away without
any warning what so ever.

.and that's when i saw
what being from a small town
is all about.

.i couldn't believe the
spreading of love
for this dear family.

.everybody from laurinburg
 knew this kind man
and they wanted
his family to know that they were
thinking of them,
praying for them,
and supporting them
however they could.

.though i could never
live in a small town like
that again
being from a small town
can be a great thing.

.i know that i have
a population
life long friends
who will always be
there to support my family
just because we graced
the walls of laurinburg's presence
for many years.

.we are praying for you
hicks' family
and
from one scot to another
we support you dearly.
