.there must be opposition in all things.

.last night was nuts.

.it was just your typical night.

.i was creating.
.husband was doing hw.
.grey's was playing in the background.
.we were suffering from insomnia.
.like we so often do even
though we have every intention
of going to bed early because we
are so tired from the insomnia of yesterday.
.finally we decided it was time for bed
around midnight.
.i went to the bathroom
and upon my return
flicked off the light switch.

.then it happened.

.i saw the shadow in our window
behind the blinds.
.the shadow of an intruder.
.i didn't want to scream
but i definitely wasn't
silent while telling husband
about the shadow.
.i might have yelled and pointed.
.it still didn't leave.
.idiot.

.i don't want to go into
too many details about what
happened after that.

.but just know.
.the story doesn't
end with a stack of clothing
fooling us while
shadowing out the image.
.it was real.
.and it was scary.

.but i have a brave husband.
.a brave husband
who takes my fears and worries
seriously.
.who wants nothing more
than to protect our family.
.and more than himself
protect me.
 .so much so he drove
us over to our mother in law's
to sleep for the night.
.i still didn't get to bed
until like 5 am.
.i was scared ok?!.

.you see life has
been so good lately.
.we are blessed.
.very blessed.

.but life doesn't work like that.
.we have to learn things.
.if we didn't
life would be as
boring as a white hospital wall.

.we need color.
.we need trials.
.we need rollercoasters.
.we need snow in spring.

.and unfortunately
but fortunately.

.we need opposition
in all things.
